BJRA Wins First Place in the Community Recycling Competition (KIKOM) 2025

Six Months of Cooking Oil Recycling Efforts Lead to Victory
Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam — [22 November 2025]

The Bukit Jelutong Residents’ Association (BJRA) has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to environmental sustainability by winning First Place (Champion) in the Community Recycling Competition (KIKOM), announced recently at the Shah Alam Mega Recycling Carnival organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) on Saturday, 22 November 2025.

This victory is the result of six months of continuous effort by BJRA in mobilising the Bukit Jelutong community to participate in its used cooking oil recycling programme. The initiative not only received encouraging response from residents but also raised public awareness about the importance of responsible waste management.

BJRA expressed its pride and gratitude for this achievement, which reflects the community’s growing awareness of environmental care. Through a series of campaigns, announcements, and scheduled collection drives, BJRA successfully gathered a significant amount of used cooking oil — positioning Bukit Jelutong as an active community in sustainable practices.

The association also encourages the wider public to adopt recycling habits, not only for cooking oil but for all recyclable materials. BJRA believes that small changes at the community level can create a meaningful impact in protecting our planet from the ongoing damage caused by a throwaway culture. BJRA hopes this success will inspire more green initiatives in the future and strengthen collaboration between residents, volunteers, and local authorities to build a cleaner, more sustainable environment for the generations to come.
